    Default ANOTHER AUSSIE STORY...RADAR = 9 Demerit Points

    Well looks like from March 1st it is 9 demerit points if you are caught with a radar... they are really getting serious now...

    Oh well...

    I really don't get it. What's the big deal about radar detectors? Is speeding really that big of a problem in Australia? Were thousands of people getting killed because of detector-using road racers?

    And how bad is 9 demerit points? In most states in the US that is a VERY large number of points. (I think I would lose my license after...11?)

    12 points lost and your licence is gone...the cops over in OZ are tools, they do anything to raise revenue..

    I remember there was a report a while ago that actually found that drivers with radar detectors are more alert and aware on the road than drivers without...

    just the ****ty government....

    Unwillingness to base legislation on scientific evidence...and I thought I lived in the only developed country where that happened.
