The La Crosse County Sheriff's Department has received a grant that will help deputies focus on traffic law enforcement.
The Wisconsin Bureau of Transportation has awarded La Crosse County a "0 in Wisconsin" grant totaling $15,000.
Captain Mike Horstman says the grant focuses on speed and seat belt law enforcement, but will allow deputies to focus on all aspects of their patrols.
Horstman says along with traffic violations, deputies are also busy responding to other assistance calls. The grant will allow more officers to be on the roads, specifically monitoring traffic calls and patroling certain areas.
