Gaithersburg Activates Seventh Speed Camera
Gaithersburg officials have approved a seventh speed camera for the community's Safe Speed program. The camera becomes operational today in the 900 block of Quince Orchard Road.
The Gaithersburg Police Department conducts traffic surveys to identify streets for speed-reduction efforts. The Safe Speed program aims to reduce speeding in residential and school zones.
Gaithersburg camera areas include Diamond and Marquis drives, North Summit Avenue, Quince Orchard Boulevard, and Watkins Mill and West Deer Park roads. Motorists who exceed the speed limit and trigger the cameras will receive a $40 fine.
