Posted by State Patrol targets construction zones in King County
The State Patrol has dedicated extra patrols to construction zones in King County. The State Patrol says troopers will be out in full force enforcing traffic laws in and around the highway construction zones.
One of the areas will be northbound Interstate 5 between South Albro Place and just south of Northeast Pacific Street, where concrete panels will be replaced overnight throughout the week. Next weekend, crews will replace 36 broken concrete panels on northbound I-5 between South Graham Street and Spokane Street. Traffic will be reduced to two lanes from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
"We encourage people who have to travel through the construction zones to slow down and allow themselves extra time to reach their destinations. Worker and motorist safety is our top priority," State Patrol Capt. Steve Burns said in a news release.
The State Patrol reminds motorists that traffic fines double in roadway construction zones and encourages anyone who witnesses an erratically driven vehicle within a work zone to call 911 with a description of the vehicle, and if possible a license plate number.
