The Chattanooga Traffic Engineer's office is warning motorists that new speed enforcement cameras are in full operation as of today (March 9).
The locations for the cameras are the 400 block of Barton Avenue and the 500 block of S. Crest Road.
Cameras are directed bot ways, northbound and southbound, to detect drivers going over the speed limit.
The un-manned cameras automatically snap a photograph of any car (and license plate) that is exceeding the speed limit. A $50 citation is issued, by mail, to the registered owner of the car.
Citations issued by un-manned cameras are not recorded on a driver's record monitored by state and insurance officials.
