New speed camera for A38

A NEW digital speed camera will replace the old gatso on the A38 between Winscombe and Rooksbridge - meaning drivers can be prosecuted quicker.

The camera will be linked by broadband to Safecam offices, saving on film costs and processing time.

Safecam's David Gollicker said: "There is no doubt that visible roadside cameras reduce traffic speeds and the risk of collisions."

Avon and Somerset is currently home to 63 speed cameras.
