It’s always a good idea to check your speed and be careful in construction zones when driving. You might want to be especially attentive today, though, if you’re driving in construction zones on Highway 40 in St. Charles County.

The Missouri Highway Patrol has 13 troopers focusing their efforts there today in what the agency has dubbed “Operation P.R.O.T.E.C.T.” (Patrol Response Operation to Enforcement of Construction/work zone Traffic).
The operation started at 9 a.m. It’s supposed to end at 4 p.m.
A press release from Sgt. Julie Scerine said the operation would include a zero tolerance enforcement policy.
Scerine said “zero tolerance” means troopers will pull over vehicles for any violation they spot. The trooper still has discretion about whether to write a warning or a summons, she said.
Troopers will be looking for drivers who speed and follow too close as well as commercial vehicle violations.
