MACON, MO. -- Capt. John W. Elliott, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces Troop B officers will be conducting six Selective Traffic Enforcement Operations during the Month of May 2009. They are as follows:
May 6, 2009 -- commercial motor vehicle safety check in Macon County
May 9, 2009 -- alcohol-related traffic offense saturation on highways in Randolph County
May 15, 2009 -- speeding and hazardous moving violation saturation on highways in Linn County
May 23, 2009 --alcohol-related traffic offense saturation on highways in Randolph County
May 31, 2009 -- speeding and hazardous moving violation saturation on highways in Clark County
During these operations, extra officers will be assigned to patrol these areas for eight-hours with a goal of detecting hazardous moving traffic violations that contribute to traffic crashes.
“Special enforcement operations such as these are effective in reducing traffic crashes,” stated Captain Elliott. “If you observe a vehicle being driven in a careless manner or possibly being driven by an intoxicated driver, I would encourage you to contact your local law enforcement agency or the Missouri State Highway Patrol at 1-800-525-5555 or *55 on a cellular telephone.”
