Default encountered a speed limit sign... extreamly low power.......

here in the uk about 6 mile away from me in the country theres a village which is 30mph it should be 40mph, and the 30 limit starts too far out of the village, so you go from 60 mph to creb crawing speed!

anyway there are speed camera signs up which i think is for the mobile speed van which they have but they have also put up a speed sign..

most speed signs flash the speed limit up when you get near them, but this one only flashes 30 mph if your speeding so it could show your speed because its using a dopper radar, but i'm not sure why they just flash the limit up.. probibly cheaper.....

it was on ka band and i go no warning just 1 beep from my snooper, it supprised me because i get 100 meter warnings from the traffic light radars!

they have made them low power for this reason...

i wonder if the v1 would detect it further>> we will have to see..........

Probably the Snooper waited a second and half before warning like mine... Try driving really slow up to it (1st gear) see what kind of range you get.

i was doing 20 mph the first time and i didnt get a good warning as i was on top of the sign before it beeped.........

the reason is because its not used for enforcement they can do that...
mega low power, as it only flashes the sign if your speeding....

i would have thought that if it was to record the offense like a truvelo it would operate on a higher power radar and the same goes if it showed your speed!

its quite funny because earlier tonight i went for a drive and theres a gatso on a road a the bottom of a steep bank, the limit which is 30mph and its a wide road and its abit straight and then the road goes on a slight up hill and bends to the left.............

so as i'm coming back down this road i'm facing the gatso and i'm on a straight bit i get a k band beep........ i then get near the right bend and then it starts beeping as i go towards it........... as i'm going down this road

of which i can see it but when it first beeped i was quite abit away from it... but the gatso was out of sight and down a slopey road...

thats because the gatso was facing me so i got a good warning of the radar........

its ok on some of the gatsos.... but really really bad on some aswell!

thats why i'm eager to find out how the v1 will behave near them........

i do wonder if on some the v1 will give varied detection aswell.....

but it does have mike's ''perfection'' so it may have no affect on performance but i'm damn sure they have done something at some of them to make them emit even lower power.......

i went back to it tonight...

its got a one way radar only get you oncoming and it flashes the 30 up if your speeding when you get about no more than 20 meters away from it..

and the detector only beeps when your 5 meters off it.....

before it lit up i had no warning... i'm wondering what a good detector would do.

    i'll have to find out..

I pass a sign like that on the way to work and it's very strange.
I have noticed it has a small solar panel connected to it.
some times it's a very strong signal and sometime very weak.
could be a power issue I guess.

Yeah I'll bet that the V1 would do better than the Snooper. Looks like the snooper is made by BG Tech, so performance is probably like a Cobra:

it's the only thing that makes sense to me.

there's another about 2 miles from me and thats the same I can pick it up nearly a mile away somedays and then somedays it's100 metres away.

I have checked with my boss who's running the Bel 550 and it does the same to him.

    Still can't find a decent priced 550 as a spare the V1
