Staff Writer 8:18 AM Tuesday, May 5, 2009 SPRINGFIELD — Police will step up patrols this month as they take part in an annual campaign to crack down on seat belt and other traffic violations, the Springfield Police Division announced.
Beginning May 18, police will run extra patrols as part of “Click it or Ticket: What’s Holding You Back,” according to a Springfield Police Division news release.
Officers will be on the lookout for reckless or drunk driving, as well as speed and seat belt violations, according to the release.
The campaign will continue through May 31 and is funded by a Governor’s Highway Safety Office grant.
