Carmi, Ill. - Illinois State Police at Carmi have released details of special patrols and safety checks planned in District 19 (White and adjacent Illinois counties).
District 19 troopers will be conducting Occupant Restraint Enforcement Patrols in the counties of Edwards, Wayne, Hamilton and Saline Counties during June.
Police will target an area with saturation patrols that focus on traffic violations and related compliance with safety belt and child safety seat laws. Safety belt enforcement zones will also be set up to ensure the driver and passengers are buckled up.
Troopers will also work with local law enforcement agencies to conduct Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement patrols in Saline and Gallatin Counties during June. The patrols allow the Illinois State Police to target an area with saturation patrols that focus on preventing, detecting and taking enforcement action in response to violations associated with impaired driving and illegal transportation or consumption of alcohol and other drugs.
State police will conduct Roadside Safety Checks in Gallatin County June 12-14 and in Wayne County June 26-28.
Officers working this detail will be watchful for drivers who are operating unsafe vehicles, driving with a suspended or revoked drivers license, transporting open alcoholic beverages or driving under the influence.
