MADISON (WKOW) -- Dane County deputies are reminding motorists to slow down, or face the consequences.
In just the past week, deputies have caught motorists driving upwards of 120 mph. In another instance, they stopped a driver in Sun Prairie going 115 miles an hour.
Authorities emphasize extreme speeds not only put drivers and passengers at risk, but anyone else they might run into.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, in 2008 there were 27,311 speed related crashes on our state's highways. Those crashes resulted in 187 deaths and 11,223 injuries.
