Default D.C. Police chief denounces 'cowardly' iPhone users monitoring speed traps

Keep in mind D.C. tickets people for parking in their own driveways (Tickets For Parking In Own Driveway – DC | Sweetness & Light), so it's not hard to see the motivation behind the cams here. Therefore: up yours!

Police chief denounces 'cowardly' iPhone users monitoring speed traps | Washington Examiner

Area drivers looking to outwit police speed traps and traffic cameras are using an iPhone application and other global positioning system devices that pinpoint the location of the cameras.
That has irked D.C. police chief Cathy Lanier, who promised her officers would pick up their game to counteract the devices, which can also help drivers dodge sobriety checkpoints.
"I think that's the whole point of this program," she told The Examiner. "It's designed to circumvent law enforcement -- law enforcement that is designed specifically to save lives."

You have to be kidding. She's going to cry about that when DC has plenty of real crime to deal with........GTFO. I mean, I might be OK with the redlight/speed cams is they were to put the revenue to fixing the roads.

Oh yeah, V1 and/or cheetah=win for DC driving

Who cares? I'm sure that to Cathy the murders are cowardly acts too. Banning guns in DC didn't solve the crime and murder rate. Heck, both have skyrocketed for decades. Maybe Cathy figures on banning iPhones so that she will get her revenue along with an increase in traffic intersection fatalities. She seems to be too stupid to "get it" that the warning from the iPhone is just that -- a warning for the motorist not to try running the red light. Somehow Cathy, it seems to me that such iPhone warnings also help to lower intersection fatalities at the RLC equipped intersections.

But Cathy, lets really get to the gist of the matter. Your RLC's aren't producing the revenue which you expected, and your city decided to enter into a greedy contract with the RLC manufacturer simply because ya'all saw dollar signs before your eyes.

So bravery would be dropping the anchor at every intersection because we don't know which ones have had cameras installed and the yellow cycles shortened?

She wants to do what Spain and the UK have done, to out law any device that provides the user information on where speed camera are located.

I bet VA & DC will be the first state to outlaw use of these devices and programs just as they did with Radar Detectors.

Would be a real enforceable law
