Off-duty trooper, police officer clocked going twice the speed limit on I-70

    The Columbus Dispatch

An off-duty state trooper and an off-duty Gahanna police officer were recorded driving along I-70 at more than double the speed limit, said Sgt. Karla Taulbee, a spokeswoman for the State Highway Patrol.
Both men were arrested by a trooper with the Granville Patrol post and charged with speeding. They were driving their own 2008 Kawasaki motorcycles on June 28.
Air radar caught Gahanna officer Christopher Thomas, 33, going 149 miles per hour and the patrol's Jason E. Highsmith, 35, driving 147 miles per hour.
Highsmith, a member of the patrol's Columbus motorcycle unit, is scheduled to appear in Licking County Municipal Court today. Taulbee said.
Neither man was charged with anything related to racing.
"It's up to the officer's discretion whether he feels they're drag racing or just going down the road too fast," Taulbee said. "Usually with drag racing you have to observe them stopped and then taking off."

    1) Air radar? WTF? They meain Vascar from the air? Or do we really need to start aiming our RD's skywards?!

    2) I love it when troopers arrest/ticket other troopers. May they all eliminate each other!

#2 is such a true point, never thought of it that way.

I think they mean that these a-holes were flying so low that they were caught on FAA radar.

I guess the LEOs aren't making enough revenue off speedtraps. Now, they're turning on each other
