Good read.
My favorite:
Alarmingly, the Mail can reveal, too, that the main expert witness used by the CPS to convict motorists in such cases - a former police officer named Frank Garratt - also makes his living as boss of the company importing the devices into Britain. Perhaps not surprisingly, Mr Garratt, a millionaire, told the Mail the LTI 20.20. works perfectly well.
This article, published Sept. 13, 2005, refers to a statement made by Meredydd Hughes of the Association of Chief Police Officers of England, Wales and Northern Ireland (ACPO) regarding the controversy over experiments showing the LTI 20/20 Laser Gun to be undependable:

Where might I find an true and correct copy of the official statement actually made by Meredydd Hughes? (I called them in UK - they won't help.) In any case, it would be hard for local cops to ignore the public record made by another officer, regardless of jurisdiction.
By the way, this article shows the THIRD Major Test in UK showing the LTI 20-20 to be wildly inaccurate:
http://www.thenewspaper.com/news/07/749.asp
This test and the results were just broadcasted on Nov. 3, 2005 on "Tonight with Trevor McDonald" on UK's ITV.
NOW, how can we get copies of these tests in a way they are admissible in courts here in the US?
Also, where is a list of the seven states (and their respective court cases) outlining why those states decided to no longer allow the use of the LTI Ultralyte 20-20 for speed detection?
id suggest trying who ever did the test or contact the papers...they may help
Well, I've called the producer Dimitri Houtart of Inside/Out on BBC (yes, via long distance); his secretary says he'll be back Monday and would probably be helpful in getting copies of his programs (March, Sept. and Nov. 2nd). He might also be able to get me in touch with Dr. Michael Clark, who did the actual studies for them.
I have an email in to ITV re: The "Tonight w/Trevor McDonald"program. They did the third and most recent test proving the LTI 20-20 to be inaccurate. I'd like to get a copy of the program and test too, if they'll let me have it. We shall see.
I have an email in with London's Daily Mail too. All three of these tests proved conclusively the LTI 20-20 is inaccurate.... (overwhelming evidence yet, your honor?)
The ACPO would not provide a copy of the written statement they made about the errors they recognize in the LTI 20-20 American version. They hungup the phone on me. I guess they British cops don't want to further the cause of justice here in the states either...
Do you know of any good Laser techs who might be willing to appear as expert witnesses in my case in Clearwater, Florida?
Oh, hee's the story... it summarizes the Inside/Out show I mentioned above. CHECK IT OUT: Scroll down to the end of the article and click the link at the bottom to see a video clip of this program, with Dr. Clark showing how the LTI 20-20 is inaccurate:

What do you think I should do to get this footage entered as evidence?

Very good read.
