NEW LOCAL: Cops to launch interstate crackdown

State police from Pennsylvania, New York and Ohio as well as the U.S. Border Patrol will beef up patrols along area interstate highways Wednesday.

Law enforcement will focus on traffic enforcement such as aggressive driving, impaired driving and speeding. Commercial vehicles also will be subject to examination by motor carrier enforcement officers and weight teams.
The coverage will be on interstates 79, 80, 86 and 90 in Pennsylvania; 90 and 86 in New York; and 80 and 90 in Ohio.
Today is the second of a number of scheduled joint law enforcement efforts planned for the summer.
A similar effort on May 13 resulted in 419 citations being issued.
