Chinese Grandpa Stops Traffic Violations with Brick
One elderly man is sending a message to drivers in Lanzhou city: Obey the traffic laws, or else.
Fed up with inconsiderate drivers ignoring a local traffic light, a 70-year-old-man in the Chinese city of Lanzhou decided to take matters into his own hands. At around 7 P.M., the elderly man armed himself with a brick, and began smashing cars that ignored the red light.
His frustration is understandable. Traffic officials have been unable to curb such delinquent driving and cars often nearly hit pedestrians. But as one internet user pointed out, while running a red light carries a fine of only 200 yuan (about $29), fixing a car window costs 500.
As the old man’s antics continued through the night, an enthusiastic crowd gathered to cheer him on—until police eventually stopped him three hours later.
Although you can be sure the drivers were less than pleased, at least the crowd was having a "smashing" good time.
