DeWitt, NY -- Aggressive driving will be targeted by local law enforcement agencies along a 3.4-mile stretch of highway in eastern Onondaga County starting today.
A police presence will be maintained along Bridge Street from Erie Boulevard to West Manlius Street and Route 290 from West Manlius Street to North Burdick Street.
Members of the state Department of Transportion, state police, sheriff's deputies and police from DeWitt, Manlius and East Syracuse made the announcement.
There were 164 accidents along that stretch from July 1, 2006, to June 30, 2008, police said. Aggressive driving was a factor in 83 percent of those crashes, police said.
The campaign will go until the Labor Day weekend
