Warren city council discussed an upgrade to police cruisers that would enable them to catch more speeders at their meeting Wednesday night.
Council discussed a system that would equip cruisers with cameras and processing systems, instead of the stationary boxes that had been met with opposition earlier in the year.
Tim Bowers, acting chief of police, said the proposal is a technological advancement.
"The only real difference is instead of an officer sitting there running radar or laser, it's the next logical generation of upgrade, a revolution of the same process," Bowers said.
Council will have to approve the technology, as well as passing legislation to allow police to issue citations in a civil format before it can be put into use.
