Police in Arkansas City have received a $12,700 federal grant to fund the purchase of radar and video equipment, U.S. Sen. Pat Roberts' office announced Wednesday.
The equipment to be puchased includes two Lidar Radar “C” cordless units, which are used to catch speed-limit violators. The department will also purchase one in-car video system used in documenting traffic stops.
The grant was awarded by the U.S. Dept. of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance and made available by the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program.
