State Police will be on an especially sharp lookout for speeding drivers on the Thruway beginning next week as part of its "Operation Summer Brake" initiative.
From Monday, August 31st through Labor Day on Monday, September 7th, state troopers will be watching for drivers who may be intoxicated, speeding, or driving aggressively. They'll also be conducting seatbelt checks, said State Police Major Robert C. Meyers.
"The last holiday of summer typically leads to higher traffic volume on the Thruway, and Troop T and the Authority want to ensure motorists get to their destinations safely," said Meyers.
Drivers are reminded to slow down, obey posted speed limits and remain alert on the roads.
