Police Plan Crackdown on Wendover Speeders

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Police officers assigned to catch speeders along Wendover Ave. say it's not uncommon to see drivers traveling up to 20 mph over the posted 45-mph speed limit along the major east-west artery.

"It's not uncommon to sit out here for 30 minutes and get one over 70 mph, easily over 70 mph," said one officer.

So on Tuesday, officers will be out in force along Wendover, reminding drivers of the speed limit by handing out citations.

And police say speeding itself is just part of the problem. The bigger issue is what speeding can lead to.

"Quite often, we have various locations on the stretch of Wendover that appear in our top 10 accident locations," said Lt. James Hinson Jr.. "So we try to educate the public and let them know that speed kills."

Wendover east of I-40 all the way to the split at 220 is usually only lightly patrolled. There is too much traffic there usually to get much speed until Spring Garden where they were when they filmed that video. The people were just getting open road to spread out on.
They just found a good place for revenue collection.

more revenue so they can add more lights to their beast suvs, they have like 6 lights on every window, even the side ones!

Not all of them are lgiht bar beasts. They usually patrol I-40 in that area instead of Wendover and are really pretty good at blending in and using their radars near the drones. They even put soccer mom stickers on them to blend in, be careful.
