Police monitoring morning Columbia commuters

The Columbia Police Department has begun monitoring motorists in the mornings as they enter the city.
The traffic watch will run indefinitely.
Residents have complained of excessive vehicle speeds, seat belt violations and aggressive driving at the city's entry points during the morning hours.


Officers are monitoring thoroughfares at I-26, I-77, Jarvis Klapman Boulevard, Meeting Street (along the Gervais Street bridge), Knox Abbot Drive (along the Blossom Street bridge), S.C. 277 and other entry points to the city.
