Finnish police are to crack down on traffic violations in urban areas this week. Officers will particularly focus on speeding, driving while intoxicated and the use of safety equipment.

Since early October, police have been keeping a closer eye on speeding violations. According to present guidelines, a fine is imposed for exceeding the maximum speed by 11 kilometres an hour. Meanwhile, warnings are issued to drivers exceeding speed limits by six to ten kilometres.
