MEDFORD, Ore. - Morning fog did not prevent travelers from flying in and out of the the Rogue Valley International-Medford Airport this holiday weekend.

The fog delayed a couple of flights, but none were canceled. The Medford Airport even took a flight that was diverted from Eugene.

The three biggest travel days are typically the days bookending the Thanksgiving holiday; Wednesday, Sunday and Monday.

Oregon State Police report that road travel was also heavy over the weekend. However, this year was one of the safest. OSP reported only one traffic fatality over Thanksgiving weekend, the lowest on record for the holiday since 1978.

State police made contact with more than 5,400 drivers and approximately 1,200 speeding citations were issued. There were 35 traffic accidents statewide and 53 arrests made for impaired driving. State police anticipate a similar volume of drivers during the Christmas season.
