The goal of the weekend is to reduce traffic injuries and fatalities during the holiday season.

"To increase traffic safety throughout the weekend, troopers will be taking a zero-tolerance approach to intoxicated drivers and motorists who are driving in an unsafe manner," said Col. Peter C. Munoz, diretor of the Michigan State Police.

Michigan State Police began in 1977 as a collaborative effort between the Michigan State Police and Indian State Police. The program now includes state and highway patrol agencies from all 50 states.
