The Bradford County DUI Task Forces announces that it will be joining with law enforcement agencies across the country in a crackdown on impaired driving from Dec. 16 to Jan. 3, which is called "Drunk Driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest."
"We will be out in force (during that time) conducting sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols and using undercover officers to get more drunk drivers off the road - and save lives that otherwise might be lost," said Towanda Police Officer David Lantz, who serves as the coordinator of the Bradford County DUI Task Force.
"Drunk driving is simply not worth the risk," Lantz said. "Not only do you risk killing yourself or someone else, but the trauma and financial costs of a crash or an arrest for impaired driving can be significant. Violators often face jail time, the loss of their driver's license, higher insurance rates, attorney fees, time away from work, and dozens of other expenses."
The national "Drunk driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest" crackdown is organized by the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
