December 19, 2009

MARION - Marion police will be one of many law enforcement agencies to participate in an Ohio 4 corridor enforcement project this weekend.

Called "Riverbanks to Lakeside," the detail will include high-intensity enforcement efforts from the Ohio River to Lake Erie in all areas Ohio 4 runs through.
According to a press release from the police department, officers will be looking for safety violations including impaired driving, speed, aggressive driving and seatbelt usage among others.
A High Visibility Overtime Grant from the Ohio Traffic Safety Office allows the department to participate.
The aim of the project is to reduce injuries and fatalities on the route.
During a 24-hour period, more than 40 agencies will participate.
