Florida highway patrol is on the lookout this weekend to make sure drivers get from Point A to Point B safely.

Every trooper in the state of Florida-including office personnel- will be working a DUI shift this holiday season from 4 pm until 12am.

Traffic crashes and fatal accidents are down in the state of Florida but figures for the panhandle have gone up.

"It's our local people who are drinking whether they are from Dothan, Tallahassee, Panama City, or Ft. Walton Beach. They are then trying to get back home and they're the ones having the problems with the fatalities. Many are Single vehicle/single Occupant wrecks" said Sgt. James D. Johnson Florida Highway Patrol-Marianna.

Rest areas throughout the state will be closed tomorrow and will re-open Monday December 28th
