Wow, that's an eye-opener! I run a camera in my vehicle all the time, and this is something I'm going to have to check into specifics for my state. I do have a ball-point pen video/sound camera (really cool) and I think I might have to keep this handy in case I ever need evidence without risking arrest.
This is nothing but a bunch of heavy-handed cops who don't want their illegal actions recorded and exposed for the world to see. Standing on a public street and videotaping events that are plainly visible to anyone walking by is 100% legal. If it weren't, every TV news crew in the country would be behind bars right now.

IIRC To the MSP's credit though their dashcams don't record sound for this very reason.
