12:49 PM EST, February 17, 2010
The woman charged with DWI in a crash that killed three people was driving an estimated 90 mph in a 45 mph zone at the time of the accident, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol trooper investigating the crash.
Trooper Mitchell Mann estimated Amanda Sperduti, 20, was going about 90 mph along Fairgrove Church Rd. in Browns Summit when she ran off the road and hit a tree around 11 p.m. Saturday. The speed limit along that stretch of road is 45 mph.
Three people, including two teens, died in the crash, and Sperduti has been charged with driving while impaired.
Troopers are scheduled to meet with the Guilford County district attorney Thursday to decide if they'll file more charges against Sperduti. They're also working with Alcohol Law Enforcement agents to figure out where the group got the alcohol.
Troopers also plan to reconstruct the accident scene later this week.
