So rural towns can set their PSLs to whatever they can pay off an engineer to say they should be? "You in a heap a trouble, BOY!"
She moved next to a busy roadway. She should go have a pity party with the people who move next to the airport and complain about the noise. Her house sits on the corner of Mill Bridge Court and Mill Street, on which passing vehicles seem more interested in breaking land speed records than adhering to the posted 35-miles-per-hour speed limit
Vehicles with a high amount of wind drag, large tires and powerful engines make a lot of noise. Maybe her precious darling can walk to school in protest of the laws of physics..."When the school buses fly past by here, which happens all the time, it sounds like someone is trying to land an airplane next to my house," she said.
Bullcrap.traffic often reaches upward of 70 miles per hour.
Solution: hire a part time traffic engineer at a healthy salary. If he likes his cushy job rubber stamping requests for speed limit changes, he'll do whatever you want. The law allows municipalities and counties to set their own "reasonable and safe speed limits" for self-contained roadways within their borders without having to seek approval from the state government, as long as a licensed professional engineer agrees the changes are appropriate.
Tough titty. PSLs are supposed to be appropriate for the road, not easy for you to enforce."Unless they're really familiar with our town, they'd have to stop and (say),'Wait, where am I again? I'm east of what road? I'm west of what road?'" Giberson said. "Making all of our roads 25 miles per hour will make our town a little easier to patrol."
Well that town better not every except federal money for road work. If they do then they can not do what the new state law says they can do. Fed laws which have money attached to the trumps the state laws.
Also, again we have some person who said they looked high and low for the perfect home and after they moved in they want to change the entire neighborhood. I love these people, they move in and want speed limits lower, they want the local hobbyist airport shut down, or they want kept the local school from building a new stadium. and their lists goes on.
If she did not like living next to a 35MPH main road she should have bought a different house.
Wow, thanks Former Govenor Corzine. Hard to believe your ass was voted out.
The lady in that story is whiner, the PSL is already 35mph. Whats does she want it set to 15mph just so she won't hear cars going by her house. That's the dumbest reason I have ever heard to lower the speed-limit.
Question:
If cars are apparently ignoring a 35 mph zone, what the hell makes her think they won't ignore a 25 mph zone just as easily?
By the way, how do I get a job as a "traffic engineer" for these small towns? Pay me $65-70k per year and I'll say that every road in town should be marked at 5 mph if you so desire!
i guess what would be more effective is that fake speeding camera in a bird house
