I think this article under estimates some of the speeds in areas. When I lived in Utah, I-80 between Wells Nevada and SLC is posted at 75mph; however, most drivers go 80-90. I-15 on non-rush hours posted 65 people go 75-80 regularly.
I just wish drivers would learn to keep right and move left to pass. Thank you for the article
In Atlanta if you are doing 68 you had better be in the breakdown lane or someone is going to run over you. No way is GA in the same group as VA!!!!

Don't know about Atlanta but I've driven through Ga. more times than i care to remember. Macon County sticks out in my mind as havibng a LEO lurking behind every bush.
Dam well did the PSL as i didn't want to be involved in any Ga. style Kangaroo Court! Ga. and Ohio rank as my best 'police protection'd' States.
:
The metro Atlanta area is like a completely different state compared to the rest of Georgia. Traffic, driving styles, state of mind, etc.
Yea, but VA is a nazi police state!!! No one drives over the PSL there, and if they do it's less than 5 over!! I lived there for 45 years, you just don't see speeds there like you do in GA.
And MO, heck they never drive the PSL there, it's always 5 under at best!!! St Louis area is the biggest speed trap in the WORLD!!!

That's what I was thinking. If I set my cruise at 68.5 MPH in PA I get passed by everything except governed trucks.
Maybe they're counting urban highways with lower speed limits the same as rural ones, or there's some sort of selection bias where drivers who know they speed would be too reticent to allow TomTom to collect their data, even if they pinky swore to keep it anonymous...
