HA! You are right. The truth is getting out. Hell it's not even about just cameras anymore. Now we are getting down to old fashioned ticketing.

I would change that from "may dwindle" to "has dwindled" or "completely evaporated" In the name of safety, of course!

If they are going to ticket us at (5 to 10 mph) over, then who is to say that the radar gun might be off by 5 mph.

Thankfully Georgia requires a 10 mph grace buffer before a city or county police officer can ticket you (unless it's in a school/residential zone or he/she paces you). They also can't run RADAR within 500 feet of a drop in speed zone or a sign noting that speed detection devices are used for enforcement, although a photo in the AJC a few months ago showed Cobb County violating that law. Local cops also can't ticket you when traveling down more than a 6 degree grade hill.

None of this applies to GSP or other state agencies, including campus police as they are mainly state agencies.

So let me get this straight...

It was OK to be 10+ PSL before but now it isn't because they need money.

Safety my arse unless the roads have gotten narrower or something .

Next thing you know, they will equip all LEOs with credit card readers so you can pay as you go. Think of the adavntages. No wasting time in trafffic court and the government gets instant payment.

Speeding fines are being doubled in "travel-safe" zones on several stretches of highway in Missouri
Out west I've seen Safety Corridors like this. From Texas to Nebraska, I've noticed the construction zones seem considerably longer since everyone has fines doubled in them. They ought to just call them all State Revenue Collection Zones, because that's all they are. And of course, we're all supposed to feel oh so ashamed because all the 'babies on board' will die because we were speeding when we passed them.

Speed doesn't kill... Stupidity kills. Bunch of damned highway robbers.

I don't know about the cushion but LEOs are under immense pressure to write tickets or they get canned if they don't generate enough revenue.
