Law enforcement officials say March overtime hours was worth it

Indiana law enforcement officials say last month's 9,000 hours of overtime duty cracking down on drunk drivers was well worth it.

Between March 5 and 21, state and local police statewide made about 475 alcohol-related arrests. They issued 12,000 citations for everything from not wearing seat belts, to speeding, to running a red light.

The head of the state's Criminal Justice Institute says the efforts went a long way toward making the roads safe, but there is still more to be done on the part of the driver.
