The town of Mount Carmel is moving forward with plans to install speed cameras... We first told you last night at 11 about the board of Mayor and Alerdmerman's approval of the ordinance for those cameras.

Today Mount Carmel police met with Nestor Traffic Systems to start ironing out the details.

Cameras would be in a mobile van. The laser-based technology would sit along 11W and would capture speeders who would get a 50-dollar ticket in the mail.

Those tickets won't go on the drivers record or insurance.

There's no cost to taxpayers. The tickets help pay for the system.

Even with the camera there will be a tolerance level. Police will determine what that will be in the one to two months it takes to get the system up and running.
