Motorcycle Fatalities Decrease

While nearly every other category of traffic death rates have been decreasing, motorcycle death rates haven’t… but last year’s numbers mark the first national decrease in 11 years. But what about the local numbers? Florida Highway Patrol Captain John Welch says the decreases in deaths are happening here too.
Welch says the decrease is likely an effect of not just one cause, but a combination of many…including more experienced and better trained riders, as first time riders now have to take a safety rider course before they can be issued their motorcycle license. Better overall awareness by the motoring public also plays a role… as does the economy, which has resulted in fewer miles traveled on the road. Welch also says more emphasis is being placed on motorcycle safety.
Enforcing safety on the road goes beyond just motorcycle safety. Whether you’re one of the many motorists who use two-wheeled transportation… or if you prefer to drive on four wheels, make sure you’re driving safely… and Captain Welch says that’s as easy as paying attention.
Apart from safety, the next step is to turn the newly-decreasing number of motorcycle deaths into a continued trend.
