CAJON PASS • With nearly four dozen confirmed victims and more still coming in, California Highway Patrol investigators are reaching out to the public in their search for those responsible for shooting out the rear windows of vehicles with a BB gun as they travel along various inland freeways including Interstate 15.

On the Friday kicking off Memorial Day weekend, about a dozen vehicles were damaged, according to Officer Mario Lopez.

The local Victorville CHP office received calls on Friday reporting someone was shooting out windows on I-15 from the Dale Evans Parkway overpass, authorities said.

As of Tuesday morning, there weren’t any local reports of the crime.

The shooter or shooters aren’t targeting any one specific type of vehicle, authorities said.

The shootings have been taking place over the last few weeks along several inland highways including I-15, highways 91 and 60, and interstates 10 and 210, Lopez reported.

Authorities ask motorists to remain vigilant and safe. If someone is a victim of this crime, they are asked to call 911 and get to a safe location to meet with CHP officers.

If anyone has any information on this ongoing case, they are asked to call the CHP Inland Communication Center at (909) 388-8000 or call WeTip at (800) 78-CRIME.
