RIP. Big loss to the Automotive World and Toyota F-sport division.
RIP and sorry to his friends and family... but I am glad the drivers of the BMW are 'Ok' at this point.
Mildly coincidental that the man died in the car he was said to have pioneered. I wonder since it seems as if it was only a prototype if it had gone through 100% of its crash/impact testing as well has had a full list of safety features built in (obviously the airbag deployed)...
Wonder what speeds each vehicle was doing? If both BMW drivers survived, one has to wonder about the LFA super-car.
-One thing that really bothers me about the article though (at the end): A man has died and two other were injured, and they are worried about reporting a loss of a measly 1.5million Euro's... really... who cares about digging up the facts about money at this point. I'd rather know the names of the BMW drivers etc?
Granted 1.5Million Euro's is an exceptional sum of money for any of us, its barely registered on Toyota's scope.

Veered Head on into the BMW? Sounds (and looks) like the BMW had spun and the LFA came around a curve to find a stopped Bimmer in his way.
Still sad. "The Ring" collects another one.

It looks like the frontal and side airbags on the drivers side deployed. That could mean the crash was concentrated on the driver's side of each car. (I read up on this a few years back). It also looks like the cabin of each car held up well but the (de)acceleration was what caused the injuries and fatality.
Maybe traffic investigation expert fritter can offer his opinion?
Sucks. I was surprised to see their chief test driver was 67 ... what kind of reflexes do 67 year old men have left? Maybe he just had a heart attack while driving.
