Good for them. 15 mph is RIDICULOUSLY slow, even in a school zone. Even 20 mph feels better driving and one can still stop quickly if a kid runs out into the street (which is the real problem... teach kids not to do this and they won't get run over, regardless of speed!)

Besides, it wouldn't solve the "speeding problem", because those who are speeding now would still be speeding with the lower limit. It would make the speeding problem worse, since the limit would be even more out of line with reasonable and safe speeds on the roads.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

I agree 15 mph is too slow. I had an incident yesterday where I was just about 2/10ths of a mile into a county park that has trails. Yes it can be dangerous for pedestrians and drivers both. However it should not only be the responsibility of a driver to be the only one liable.

Anyway a park ranger was at a trail that was 2/10ths of a mile , I was going well over the limit as I had not really settled my speed after coming off a state highway. The ranger shook his walking stick at me. Later as we were fishing he walked up to us to remind us there are lots of pedestrians around the area and the speed limit is 15 mph through the whole park. He then walked away after we told him thank you. About 5 mins later I heard him run my LP. which came back as no wants or warrants. This park is very rural and there area few walkers and bike riders that travel through the area, however point being 15 mph is way too slow!

    Was I wrong ? Yes
