Unlike red light cameras, which can be rigged to ticket innocent motorists (e.g. by shortening the yellow light time), offhand I can't think of a way to rig a stop sign camera; either you stopped or you didn't, and if the video shows that you didn't, you deserve a ticket.

The only people who are outraged by this concept are the MFFYs who like to do "California stops" and roll out directly in front of oncoming traffic.

Face it, the state needs money. Better stop for 5 seconds in those areas now. CHP has been writing for 3 MPH over too.

Red light runners have been decimated to the lower-level rolling stop abusers so they get new cameras for that offense. Your politicians will do anything to get a buck out of your wallet now.

Now I would invest in a cell phone camera abuser system after some blond nearly ran me over today in a crosswalk while she was on her cell phone. They are far worse than a drunk imho.
