Cool Houston, TX red light cameras rejected

In yesterday's election, there was a referendum on the installed red light cameras. 53% of voters say to dismantle the system. Baytown (nearby town) had a similar referendum and they voted against the cameras as well. It will be interesting to see how long the city can drag the process out. My guess is that it will probably be at least a year before they all come down. I think I read that the city signed a new five-year contract with the camera company just a few months ago in anticipation of the upcoming referendum. The city and county really put on a big advertising campaign to try to keep the cameras in operation. I never saw any TV ad by the group that wanted them removed. Obviously, the voters could see that it was only about the money and had nothing to do with driver safety.

    I'm happy,
