I am always suspicious anytime they try to combine two programmes. Reminds me of the crooked congressmen who put totally non-related "riders" on legislative bills they know will pass, but are totally unrelated. Here, they're trying to piggyback a BS revenue generator onto a legitimate initiative. Screw 'em.
Why doesn't this surprise me that the Washington Post says this?
Oh yeah, because DC is owned by Big Brother Gatso speed cameras all over the place. Screw them, those idiots keep on paying the fines and agreeing it's for safety.
I can see it now, the United States is slowly but surely turning into other countries that have these things everywhere, and people actually agree with them being there! Sad...
There are 3 things that have made big differences in the rest of the world.
1 random breath testing coupled with severe penalties for breach of drink driving laws
2 helmets for motorcycle riders
3 compulsory seat belts
More garbage from the Washington Com-Post. I wouldn't line my dog's bed with that crap. There is a reason we are different than all those socialist countries that the article praised so highly...it's called freedom. The people in those socialist countries are ok with government telling them what is for their own good. They can't take a dump without written authorization from their government. Thankfully, here in America there are still a great many people that prefer to make their own choices. Adults can make their own choice whether they want to wear seatbelts, helmets, look both ways before crossing the road, etc. I am willing to accept XXXX number of deaths; that is the price one has to pay to remain free. A quaint little concept I know.
