Hmmm, I'd like to see part two. It drove me nuts how they kept saying Radar, Radar Radar, but as you and I know.....
I wonder how many accidents were caused from actually "going too fast." I bet not paying attention while driving this horribly designed stretch of roadway has more to do with it.
Radar most people would never know they are using laser to pinpoint one car! They are out there 4 times a week and from what I was told this will be from now on. I will bet you all a dollar next year will will see a speed camera on I70 in St ANN.
I wanna be that guy in the hotel room, he gets to just sit there in a climate-controlled room, free from weather and noise, sitting down shooting lidar for hours. Sounds good to me.
Wouldn't his being off-axis create a flaw with the speed reading a little bit? I know there wouldn't be a major discrepancy but being that he's shooting pretty far away, two stories higher than the cars, and at what appears to be about a 30 degree angle, it seems like there could be a better way.
Does Missouri have a move over or slow down law? They could take about half of those officers and enforce that if they have the law as well, there were a lot of people in the far right lane...
Great find though stlouisx...I'm going to be looking for part 2, also, as that part sounds interesting as well.
This is insanity. I mean.. ANYWAY POSSIBLE. - more reason for jammers. I first thought about the cosine errors too. This may be an argument in court. But maybe discrepancy is small. I didn't do much calculations.
So you guys think jammers will be effected by these off axis shots? Or will they still jam fine.
Since July 17th, over 4400 tickets at $200+ each...
or $176,000+ a month
They're making a KILLING off of those speeders.
Alright. So I just drove by it and I'm even more confused now. I didn't see anything but I had my scanner on and they were working the side roads. The LL hogs were horrible. Nearly everybody was on their phone or smoking but I'm sure that has nothing to do with it. They must be shooting at 1000+ feet to get somewhat of an accurate reading. What's the max range on a PL3? I must say all the PD's in that area have successfully f'cked up the flow of traffic and made driving in that area a dangerous task. Nice job idiots!! You couldn't pay me to drive 170 again. Taking 170 and 70 in stl county was such a bad experience, you couldn't offer me free housing to live there either! Words can't describe that place!!!!!!
