I hate them too. Just don't have a firearm in your car because they'll threaten to take you to jail because you don't have a FOID card, which is impossible to get unless you are a IL resident.

lol its not bad at all. as usual the tribune ruins all the fun, again. This law sucks, if it was in effect before I wouldnt have been able to get supervision for 2 of my tickets.

So what does supervision mean, is it just you drive nice for awhile and they drop the charges ?

guys you need to read between the lines.

The new law makes it a Class B misdemeanor to speed 30 to 39 mph above the limit. Punishment could include six months in jail and a $1,500 fine. It also prohibits judges from issuing court supervision to anyone found guilty of driving at least 40 mph in excess of the speed limit. Exceeding the speed limit by 40 mph could result in a year in jail and a $2,500 fine.
if convicted! its still up to the judge and prosecutor on what charges to bring. with a good lawyer I am guessing pleas to lesser charges will be made more often

also this has nothing to do with the tribunes report. it has to do with some teens who crossed the road and crashed into a tree. the girl died and the driver had previously been given supervision.

the mom of the girl made it her crusade to keep speeders off the streets. what she and the rest of the sheeple don't get is these reckless drivers will do it with or without a license. look at drunks they do it all the time thats why they have multiple DUI's.

40 over has always been a misdemeanor they just made 30 over one as well.

it will be interesting considering traffic on 294 and 80 flow at 75-85 all day long, anyone going 85+ is now a criminal.

I do have to say, traffic has slowed down considerably over the last 3-4 years. I remember traveling at 70 through there and still getting passed by most people. Now, I see most of them going 60. Although, there are plenty of people who still do 15+ as ISP is always busy when I go through there.
