unfortunately he is wrong. but he is correct on one thing he is contributing a little bit more just not to safety but to revenue generation.According to the Oregon Department of Transportation, more than 350 people die in car crashes statewide annually."If you can stop people and that makes them slow down, it's going to have a correlation," Postlewait said. "I feel like I'm contributing a little bit more."
so few of the commenters get it but a few do:
sound familiar? it should another department recently got busted for making a game out of collecting revenue."fishing" huh? Sounds like entrapment, which is what unmarked patrol cars are. The article title should read.....Deputy uses entrapment on speeders to bring in revenue for his department. Fact is, I spoken several times with someone who use to be a deputy for marion county and they told me that the department holds contests to see who can issue the most citations and it is especially competitive with those that opperate the unmarked cars. The person I have spoken to, said its more than just having a quota and its almost like these guys are using questionable techniques to issue a larger number of citations. By thew way, this person left the department because of corruption and a dissagreement policies for handling such things as this. Bottom line with the deputy in this article for example is, that he wants to make sure he has a job and so the main focus is bring in revenue. This goes for all other deputies. Making roads safer is the politically correct answer to draw attention away from the money making reason.
ah yes someone who gets it.Safety my eye . Please tell it like it is .REVENUE COLLECTION !
ah but they are fishing, fishing for revenue. they used the perfect analogy its just sad the majority of the sheeple reading the article don't get it and actually think its about "safety" lol.Nothing against the deputy for doing his job for public safety, but you may want to be careful with your analogies. When fishing most use bait or lures.......not the pictyure you want to give the public in my mind.
