    This was simply some university experiment played out on the public. There has been all kinds of theoretical analysis done on the movement of traffic and if you could somehow control the rate of cars going past various point you could eliminate stop and go situation which slow progression and decrease traffic accidents.

    Well great ideal but, how often do people look at the speed signs once on a highway and you already established your speed. These systems do not work this way, you would have to have a system like they showed in the move Irobot which cars speed is control by an automated system not humans, humans are too unpredictable for these things to work.
