Default Indiana Police receive grants to target speeders

    http://www.wthr.com/story/14475522/p...arget-speeders

10% of crashes in the state involve speeding...seems pretty low to me.

Only stipulation on grants: "Must make back more money than grant put forth."

Funny, I thought just the opposite.

Ok, now here is a brilliant quote from the article...

Research shows 18 percent of fatal traffic crashes and 12 percent of injury accidents in Indiana traffic collisions last year involved speed.
Really? As in, the cars were moving, not stopped?

As SS always says... Journalism is dead. I've found most all-news articles are poorly written, the only way to make them worse is when they are based off sketchy-data (at best).

By low, I meant that it doesn't seem to be a huge problem, not that the statistic was lower than the actual percentage.

    Another great story....

The reporter's question, "what's the solution". The answer is obvious... RAISE THE SPEED LIMIT!

When the speed limit is posted at the 0th percentile it's WAY too low.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

I thought that it seemed pretty obvious also. 55 mph on a 4 lane highway doesn't make a lot of sense.

The State Police do love to sit out there and hit out of state cars though. They never seem to mess with the locals unless you're really weaving in and out of traffic. So it's almost a 50 mile long speed trap for visitors.
