Sounds like a recipe for abuse, to me.

So I had email contact with a attorney about this issue , and they replied that the city has an ordnance which can fine anyone up to 1,000 max and up to 1 year in jail max if they so choose too. It seems it does not matter what violation. If they want to do it, they infact can.

Wait until someone runs the numbers on how much they think they could rake in with that (I'll bet someone already has)...

    - 1 MPH over... $1,000 fine!
    - Jaywalking... $1,000 fine!
    - Parked and inch too far from the curb... $1,000 fine!
    - Candy wrapper accidentally blew out of your window... $1,000 fine!
    - Didn't obey the strictest letter of any law, no matter how obscure... $1,000 fine!

    It sounds ridiculous, doesn't it?
But then you look at some of the over-the-top things other city, state, and federal governments are doing to raise revenue and begins to look likely.

I would love to see the fines from the past.
