Irish speed cameras scheme

As six in ten deaths occur on regional roads, the cameras will be concentrated there and on national roads rather than on motorways.
They will automatically issue Garda stamped speeding tickets.

It is expected that the tender company will be appointed and the cameras in place by the end of the year.
The government has repeatedly denied claims that it is a money-making operation.
